September 24 – October 13
State and County Voter Information Guides are mailed to voters.

October 5
Vote-by-mail ballots begin going out to active registered California voters.

You don't have to wait until Election Day! Once you receive your ballot, you can complete and return it.

October 6
Secure ballot drop-off locations are open.

October 19
Last day to register to vote through the regular registration process.

October 20 – November 3
Missed the registration deadline? Same Day/Conditional Voter Registration is available through Election Day.

October 27
Recommended deadline to request a replacement ballot if yours was lost, damaged, or never arrived.

October 31
In-person early voting locations will be available throughout California. Check your local voting locations and hours before going.

NOVEMBER 3, 2026 — ELECTION DAY

Polls are open from 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM.

Your ballot must be returned in person or placed in an official drop box by 8:00 PM, OR if mailed, it must be postmarked by November 3.

November 10
Last day counties can receive mailed ballots that were properly postmarked by Election Day.

November 25
Deadline to correct certain ballot-envelope signature problems if you are notified that there is an issue with your signature.
